World War 2 B-17 Bomber Visits Lawrence Airport in North Andover

WW2 Boeing B-17 Flying FortressI was in my yard when I saw this awesome plane fly overhead. I quickly went down to Lawrence Airport in North Andover, MA to see this beauty was on display. I was lucky to see it up close and take a tour of the inside before it got ready to take off. The World War 2 B-17 Fighter name is the Liberty Belle. I also interviewed WW2 Veteran Sgt. John Katsaros. He was in Europe during 1943 & 1944 and was on 11 successful missions. We are truly grateful to these hero’s and proud to be Americans!

While speaking to a few of our countries proud veterans I was in formed that after the war only a handful of this planes survived. They were sold to anyone who wanted them for $350.00 due to the new and improved Jet that put these prop planes out of commission. Only 11 are know to have survived and it was a great joy to see such an important part of our history on display for the public to enjoy in North Andover. How lucky we are as Americans that we had such brave people defending us! God Bless America!
